There's a special going on at Sesame Street. First, Gladys Knight and the Pips sing the theme song, then Phil Donahue interviews the residents; Alastaire Cookie tells us the tale of "The 39 Stairs" with Grover. Bob sings the "Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood" song with Ralph Nader, Barbara Walters and Martina Navratilova; Hoots teaches Ernie about how if he wants to play a saxophone, he must put down his duckie; Kermit tries to get Oscar interested in public television; a classic Grover waiter sketch; James Taylor sings an interesting song and finally, some culture: an opera.

Say “Hello!” to Halloween! It’s time for tricks and treats when Elmo and Abby visit Count von Count’s spooky castle for a special Halloween. Count cats and ghosts with them, play pattern games, and help them chase down a runaway pumpkin! Then find out what happens when someone is wearing the same costume as Elmo—eek! Do the Batty Bat dance as you get ready to celebrate Halloween with Elmo and all his friends! Ah, ah, ah!

Big Bird decides to hold a birthday party for Radar in the dance studio around the corner. More kids than Sesame Street Muppets are seen in the video as the plot moves along by the kids suggesting a dance, Celina explaining how to do it, and the song or video plays.

An American institution turns fifty, and the disc release to mark the event is a very long (almost six hours) compendium of uncut historical segments from the show, without overdubs — Disc one features musical highlights and disc two dramatic and comedic highlights. It’s terrific background material, especially the music disc with the favorite characters both human and muppet. Plus some of my nostalgic favorites — it helps if you once had a baby or toddler in your lap, clapping along with you for these things. I can’t think of a better way to honor the show, and am ready for a followup, with more favorite segments.

Play with Me Sesame is a children's television series spun off from Sesame Street, featuring Sesame Street characters such as Bert, Ernie, Grover, and Prairie Dawn. From April 1, 2002 until December 30, 2007, the show has aired on Noggin, which was rebranded as Nick Jr. in 2009. Play with Me Sesame moved to PBS Kids Sprout as of December 31, 2007, however, Sprout showed 26 new episodes, and all 52 episodes of both Seasons 1 and 2.The first two seasons were produced for Noggin, and both Noggin seasons contained 26 episodes, respectively. The third, and final season was produced solely by Sesame Workshop for PBS Kids Sprout in 2007 with 26 episodes.
